Range Report 8 Aug 2021: Snider-Enfield Rifle

Location:  Lytle Creek Range
Weather:  Dry and Clear, 80 deg.  No wind.
Weapon:  Mark III Snider-Enfield.
Ammunition:  Hand-cast .600 in. two-groove bullets at 530 grains.  Loads as noted below.

All shots were taken with a 6:00 hold using a Fine Sight.  The shooting position was sitting unsupported.  The range was 100 yards.

The target used here is a one-third-scale copy of the Third Class Target used in the annual rifle qualification as depicted in the 1870 Musketry Instruction.

Ten rounds with 70 grains of Schutzen 2F powder.
String Test:            39.5 in./10 rds. = 3.95 in./rd.
Figure of Merit:     3.26
Group Size:            9.37 in.
